LYPTUS CABINETS in the Sequoia

The kitchen of the Sequoia (The Tim O’Brien 2010 Parade of Homes Model)
is encased in floor to ceiling gorgeous furniture-style cabinetry. These cabinets
provide more than just the WOW-factor, they are also eco-friendly. The gorgeous
wood is Lyptus, a hybrid of the Eucalyptus tree that was developed for fast growth
and quick harvesting on plantations that are certified to Brazil’s sustainable forestry
standards. Its environmental attributes make it a great choice for a sustainable hardwood
product. These eco-friendly plantations ensure that old growth forests are not harvested
or depleted in order to maintain their valuable bio-diversity. One of the biggest
environmental advantages of Lyptus is that it only takes about 15 years to grow to full
maturity whereas most hardwoods require 50-70 years to reach maturity. Additionally,
the trees are pruned while they grow, so the logs that go to mill are uniform with very
few knots. Uniformity means less waste during the milling process. The majority
of the eucalyptus tree goes to market while its byproduct often gets used as bio-energy.

Lyptus offers a very unique look for cabinetry. It lends itself to a variety of styles, from
contemporary to traditional to rustic, and yet it offers a completely different look than
what is afforded with the familiar oak, maple, and cherry wood species. It’s a fresh,
fashion-forward option that homeowners are embracing for their one-of-a-kind kitchens.
When people enter the Sequoia’s kitchen, we hear comments like ‘stunning’ and ‘gorgeous’.
